An ICC allows the holder to voyage internationally in waters where the country being visited has chosen to accept it, plus being subject to any prescriptions made by the visited country.
Most people complete the ICC because this is as far as they wish to go with their formal boating education. However, the next step would be to complete the RYA Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster ™ Offshore Theory course with a view to maybe progressing to Coastal or Yachtmaster Offshore level.
