Balearic Islands, Spain

Best Sailing Months: April to November

Prevailing Wind: North

Cruising Area

Imagine beautiful deep bays and white sandy beaches, turquoise seas and warm breezes….. The white washed houses in Menorca, and the cliffs littered with caves contrast with Mallorca with its coastal resorts, stunning mountain range and busy ports. Ibiza surprises most visiting sailors, who expect nightclubs and teenagers, whereas it also has a beautiful rugged coastline and like the other islands, plenty of quiet places to drop anchor for the night. Remember that courses run here are non-tidal.

Weather Synopsis

The Balearics experience a slightly different weather pattern to mainland Spain as they are located in the western Mediterranean. The weather is generally settled with flat seas and a light breeze but when one of the Mediterranean winds blow hard you can experience some seas. The strong winds pass quickly and the seas begin to drop within a day or two so it is unlikely you would be affected by this for the whole course.
