The RYA Essential Navigation and Seamanship Theory course introduces the basic knowledge to be safe at sea. It is ideal for anyone new to spending time on the water, whether fishing, sailing, powerboating, motorboating or using a jet ski. The RYA Essential Navigation and Seamanship Theory course can be done at an RYA training centre over 2 days or online in the comfort of your own home. It covers basic chart work and the various publications you would need for navigation. Safety is a primary subject of all the RYA schemes, therefore understanding safety on board, weather and the rules of the road are also on the syllabus.
